We take Lila and Ipo on a road trip to see the finals of the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials. Ipo sits in the back seat of the car, Lila is mostly on our laps in the passenger seat for the 4 1/2 hour drive (including rest/pee breaks). Although her morning walk was shorter than usual she enjoys traveling and soon settles down for the ride.
Stats:Age: 15 weeks We intended to drive back home the same day but instead decided to go to Steamboat Springs. The drive from Meeker to Steamboat was long and we were all tired and hungry. Lila ends up riding in her crate in the back because she would not settle down and her bitting was too hard to handle. Once we fed her, things were better. No problem in the hotel. We all slept till almost 9am. EatingWe get up and walk the two dogs, go into town to get food for us all (tunafish and cottage cheese for the dogs since we didn't bring enough of their usual food for the extra day) then go to find a trail to hike on. Two DogsThis is a red letter day. We find a small lake and play fetch with Ipo. He plays with Lila for a long time and they both enjoy it. Lila won't swim after him when he goes for the stick in the water, so he has a safe place. The stick is too big for Lila to pick up so there is no danger of her taking it away from him which seems to make him even more comfortable. We also think it helped that he got to see Lila play with another young Cattle Dog the day before at the sheepdog trials. It looks like they are getting to be friends! |
