She came to us reasonably well used to the crate so there was no issue there.
- She slept through the night (10pm till 5:15am) the first night.
- When she whines in the morning we go downstairs past her crate and get ourselves some water, then get her out of her crate to go outside. This way she does not get used to the idea that whining gets an
- We carry her outside to her bathroom area to avoid accidents on the way.
- During the day she needs to go out about every two hours and whenever she wakes up from a nap.
- We have a few accidents in the house when we miss the timing but it does not happen often.
We clean it up without comment. She lets us know when she has to go out but her signals are rather subtle so it took a bit of experience to learn to read them. - We say her pee and poop command whenever she is doing it, then praise her. She learned the commads within three days. No treats needed - going to the bathroom is its own reward.
- We keep her on leash when we take her out to go to the bathroom. She has no problem with it other than liking to poop in taller grass or bushes. It sometimes takes longer than I would like for her to go poop because we use the leash to keep her in an area that's easier to clean up.
- She is willing to go on both concrete and natural surfaces. This should be handy while traveling.
